About this Blog

Dear Visitors,
On September 18, 2001, when the focus of the international community was on September 11, the Eritrean President Iseias Afewerki arrested 11 senior government officials who asked for political reform. At the same time, the president closed all private newspapers and detained their editors and reporters. Ten years letter, the whereabouts of these detains is not known. They were never brought to a court of law and neither their families nor human right organizations are allowed to visit them.

While the September 2001 incident is well known for its high profile detains, the practice of arbitrary arrest has been going on in Eritrea for 20 years now. Thousands of Eritreans are languishing in secrete prison networks either for their political opinions or for their religious believes.

To end this practice, Eritrean youth all over the world are demanding President Iseias Afewerki to release ALL political prisoners. This blog is created to support this activity and help the cause of Eritrea's political prisoners.

Please support our cause by signing the petition, distributing the petition, advocating for the release of Eritrea's political prisoners or in any other form you can.

Thank you,

Eritrean Youth Solidarity for Change (EYSC)
